Repair works are under way on the spire structure of Bridge Chambers, with some extensive but important repairs required to due to damaged and rotted timber, and corrosion of old iron bolts and fixings which are to be replaced with new stainless steel for protection from the high exposure and salt laden winds.
Some of the gargoyle heads are in surprisingly good condition below the numerous layers of paint, showing the quality of the original carving details. Several gargoyles have split and require repair, and all require an improved weathering detail to reduce future decay.
