The JRA team on site in Devon

Killerton Architects Christmas blog

2025 has been another great year for Jonathan Rhind Architects, with highlights including, project completions, Continuing Professional Development,  team member news and an office move.

On the project side, the Class Q Fallback Position enabled several barn conversions; more accommodation was completed at the Woolsery regeneration; the West Wall revive project at Pip & Jims church in Ilfracombe has revitalised the stained glass and limestone windows; and we began a conservation process of research, recording, consolidating and conserving a historic farmstead site as a ruin.

We published a series of sustainability blogs to help guide you through this extensive and evolving subject, which is so relevant to the way we live at the moment. There will be more to come in the new year.

There were celebrations after the Dartmoor National Park Historic Farm Building Repairs project was Highly Commended at the Civic Trust AABC awards.

A whole team CPD day at an extensive estate regeneration in Devon (read more about it in the new year) saw both studios gather for a look at the farmhouse conservation and upgrades; historic threshing barn and modern winged barn conversions; and a delicious lunch of burgers from beef raised on the estate’s agricultural holding.

The Somerset studio moved into light airy premises in the centre of Taunton, giving the team, more space to meet, collaborate and create.

We have also welcomed four Part I Architectural Assistants, as well as three Architects to the ever growing team bringing even more energy, enthusiasm and technical skills to both studios; Miriam joined the management team as full Director, bringing many years of conservation experience and her exceptional leadership skills to the Directors group. The arrival of not one but two JRA babies, with more on the way in 2026 is wonderful news for the JRA family.

The Jonathan Rhind Architects studios will close from Thursday 25th December until Friday 2nd January. We wish you a very Happy Christmas and look forward to working with you in 2026.
