Works underway to Somerset barn conversion.
— 11 Jan 2017
Works are well underway to convert this traditional stone barn near Bishops Lydeard, Taunton, Somerset.
The external structure has been dry lined and insulated, with the existing roof joinery repaired to add valuable living space to the historic farmhouse.
Planar roof glazing is currently being installed with folding sliding doors being built at the factory and due to be installed shortly. This will help the space benefit from the views of the south facing aspect and sunlight as well as passive heating in wintertime.
As the contractor moves forward with site works we are discussing the final finishes, sanitaryware and paint colours which will transform what was a underused storage space into a double height living room and party space. The barn will also have a mezzanine providing sleeping accommodation for guests, with a wet room shower room below.
