Did you spot our projects that were part of Tales from the Coast with Robson Green on ITV last week? The episode followed Robson across the shores of North Devon, visiting Ilfracombe, Clovelly and the beautiful Lundy Island.

Jonathan Rhind Architects worked on the Bath House in Ilfracombe, featured in the programme, which forms the entrance to the Tunnels Beaches. Our team worked on upgrading the Grade II listed building to transform it into luxury accommodation for weddings. This included renewal of the slate roofs and rainwater drainage, upgrading the basement for new bedrooms, bathrooms and service rooms, as well as an extension to the ground floor to link with the café building.

We also worked on the Tunnels Beaches to extend a bespoke amenities block, including shower rooms and toilet facilities, which sits above the beach shop. You can see more of our work on the Bath House here.

John Alexander at Jonathan Rhind Architects said: “It is fantastic to see this unique historic venue be so successful and we are proud to have been part of the renovation and conservation of such an important local building.

“As a listed building with lots of different architectural requirements, this was a challenging but extremely interesting and rewarding project, and is certainly a must-see venue if you’re in the area.”

The Beaches is a hugely successful and award winning wedding venue and the Bath House provides luxury self-catering accommodation to wedding parties, just a stone’s throw away from private beach. It is also available to those simply wishing to visit and stay in the area.

The Tunnels Beaches are a great attraction for all the family with a café, soft play area and beach shop set in a unique network of hand-carved tunnels and sheltered beach.

If you’d like to watch the programme, it’s available now on ITV player here.
