Devon Architects practice new office Barnstaple historic thumbnail

Jonathan Rhind Architects are moving! Having outgrown our Shirwell North Devon studio, we are relocating our North Devon team while the current office is extended, to Bridge Buildings, a grade II listed building in the centre of Barnstaple – which reflects our passion for using and revitalising historic spaces. The move will take place in mid-March 2023.

Our new address will be:

Jonathan Rhind Architects
1st and 2nd Floor Studios
1 Bridge Buildings
The Strand
Barnstaple
Devon
EX31 1HA

Our other contact details will remain the same, and we will endeavour to keep disruption to a minimum during the move.

This is an exciting time for the practice as we continue to expand. Moving to larger premises gives the business space to grow and enables more collaborative working, so the practice can continue to deliver exceptional projects to our clients – conserving and revitalising historic buildings in the Southwest.

Jonathan Rhind Architects’ link to the 1846 Bridge Buildings goes back over 25 years. The Bridge Trust, who own the impressive Grade II listed building, are a local charity helping the inhabitants of Barnstaple and surrounding area, who own several other listed properties in the centre of Barnstaple.

Jonathan Rhind Architects have worked with the Trust maintaining, repairing and redeveloping their historic building portfolio for over two decades; balancing the need for care of the historic fabric with the commercial and domestic needs of the tenants.

The upper floor studios the practice are occupying in Bridge Buildings have been sensitively renovated to meet the needs of the team, retaining historic features such as decorative cornicing, Victorian fireplaces and historic sash windows whilst reservicing and finishing for a fresh workplace.

We look forward to welcoming clients, contractors, consultants and other visitors to our new studios in the Grade II listed property in Barnstaple as well as our existing Somerset branch in the Coach House at Rumwell Hall, Taunton.
