Thanks to an ever increasing workload here at Jonathan Rhind Architects, we have taken on two more team members, in the Devon and Taunton offices.

As clients look to undertake conservation and alterations to their historic properties, and people take advantage of the reduced planning restrictions in the countryside through the class Q barn conversion legislation there is more demand then ever for specialist advice or for building homes in the Devon and Somerset countryside.

Eve Wheller worked in the Taunton office in 2016/17 as a work experience student during her foundation diploma in art design. She picked up skills quickly including our drawing package Vectorworks, and impressed Directors, Julian Clayton and Mark Raby with her enthusiasm and ability.

The time she spent at Jonathan Rhind Architects helped to consolidate her passion for conservation and heritage buildings, as well as her interest in sustainable design, and after leaving Jonathan Rhind Architects she was awarded a place at the University of Bath to study a BSc in Architecture.

We are now delighted to welcome Eve back as a Part 1 Architecture student on placement. Since starting, towards the end of last year, she has already contributed hugely to a variety of projects including preparing and contributing to presentations, designing concept schemes and amending technical drawings.

Joining the Barnstaple team is Jonathan Johnson, Part 1 graduate from the University of the West of England. For his dissertation, Jonathan discussed the principles of conservation and the issues surrounding conservation authenticity, with a special focus on the Georgian architecture of Bath. In breaks between his education he worked as a builder, gaining invaluable practical experience of construction and how materials are put together.

Jonathan joined the North Devon office at the beginning of April and has dived head first into producing technical drawings for Woolsery Manor, as well as working on repairs for St Peters Church in Ilfracombe.

We are always on the look out for more talent. If you are interested in a position at Jonathan Rhind Architects in either our Devon or Somerset office, please get in touch.
