Grant Submissions for Nine Churches
— 28 Mar 2016
We have just helped nine churches submit applications for the Listed Places of Worship/Roof Grant Scheme which gives up to £100,000 grant for works to roofs, rainwater goods, drainage and high level masonry. This is not specifically linked to community benefit and judged purely on the urgency of need for repair and the grant process is simpler than the Heritage Lottery Fund, which supports larger projects up to £250,000 and above.
In last year's round, which was the first year that the grant was made available, five churches out of the eight we helped submit received grants, and the work is due to start on site within the next few months. This is a very useful source of substantial funds for churches and can be used in sequence (but not concurrently) with HLF grants.
