Summerhouse Our client brief was for a two-bedroom summerhouse in the grounds of their grade II Regency villa, with kitchen, dining, sitting, WC/changing and first floor office with views over the garden and swimming pool, spa, with glasshouse and meandering pathway in a Piet Oudolf inspired planted garden.The clayey ground type and the open-plan form of the building indicated a steel frame on a concrete ring beam and piled foundations with masonry walls and oak external boarding, the deep overhangs to the ‘swept’ eaves give good shade and protection in sunshine.Bespoke construction details included:Curved internal staircase Lutyens / Frank Lloyd Wright style slate roof Copper ridges, hips and guttering Oak weatherboarded external walls Surface water rapid drainage system Sunken fire pit Download project card (1.3 MB pdf)
