Holwell Farm

Creation of a beautiful rural retreat, holiday let and wedding venue from a tired and overgrown Grade II listed farmhouse with 16th Century core. A challenge was to incorporate modern services whilst restoring key historic details. Development of good relationships with the Heritage officers allowed the subtle changes required to improve accessibility and usability including 6 ensuite bedrooms; and negotiations with the contractor kept the work on budget.

The client has rejuvenated and enhanced the farmland for wildlife, and the remodelled front courtyard and new curved stone stairway to the terraced embankment connects the farmhouse with the landscape and creates space for visitors to relax and enjoy the Devon countryside.
