Conservation Architect wins award 2025 8

More celebrations for the team as the Dartmoor National Park Historic Farm Building Repairs project wins a 'Highly Commended' Award at the Civic Trust AABC awards.

Commenting on the Dartmoor National Park Historic Farm Building project, the judges said,
This scheme demonstrates how collaborative efforts, traditional techniques, and community engagement can effectively preserve heritage while delivering tangible benefits to local economies and cultural landscapes.’

The project saw the simultaneous repair of 15 historic rural agricultural buildings in Dartmoor National Park in a limited timescale, with limited funding and under strict conservation criteria during the Covid period.

The pilot project was a collaboration between national cultural and heritage bodies (Historic England), government departments (DEFRA), 5 national parks, farm owners, conservation architects, specialist consultants and conservation contractors.

The project identified vulnerable historic agricultural buildings which are rooted in the cultural identity of each national park, and were in danger of being lost to decay and unsympathetic repair.

The project had already won the Heritage Project category of the RICS South West Awards 2024, and we are delighted that the hard work of everyone involved has now also been recognised in the Civic Trust AABC Conservation Awards.

Jonathan Rhind attended the ceremony at the Concorde Conference Centre where built environment professionals from around the world, came together to celebrate outstanding achievements in architecture, urban design, planning, public realm and art, for the benefit of the communities who use them.

Well done to all of those involved!
