Bridge Chambers

The Bridge Trust, Barnstaple

A local charity which owns and lets a number of buildings in the town. We look after the building repairs and maintenance issues for the entire estate, balancing the need for care for historic fabric with commercial and residential requirements.

Works to Bridge Chambers, a late 19th Century building by Barnstaple architect R.D. Gould include; High level repairs to the fleche on top of Bridge Hall. The internal repair and re-ordering of the Bridge Hall, the old magistrate's courts. Current repair and refurbishment of light wells and internal staircases. Phased programme of roof slate re-nailing, dressed stone repair and brick repointing. Replacing completely rusted gutters. External window re-leading, repair and decoration. Internal renewal of services and upgrading heating and fire alarms/escape lighting.
